    Niagara Regional Council Vacancy - Pelham Representative

    TAKE NOTICE that a vacancy exists on Niagara Regional Council for one (1) Town of Pelham representative. Town of Pelham Council has determined that this vacancy will be filled by appointment through a call for applications, in accordance with the Council Vacancy Policy (S201-22).

    Town of Pelham Council will make a recommendation for appointment to Niagara Regional Council, which will confirm the appointment at a meeting of their choosing, in accordance with Niagara Regional Policy (C2-001). The successful appointee will serve from the date of confirmation by Niagara Regional Council until the end of the current Council term on November 14, 2026.

    To be eligible for appointment, candidates must be qualified electors under the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 and fulfill all of the following requirements:

    • Resides in or be the owner or tenant of land in Town of Pelham, or the spouse of such owner or tenant;
    •  Is a Canadian citizen; 
    •  Is at least 18 years old; and,
    •  Is not prohibited from voting under Section 17(3) of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 or otherwise by law.

    Any qualified individual may submit a completed application package in person to the Clerk or designate, with identification. Application packages will be available online or in-person at 20 Pelham Town Square, Fonthill ON by noon on Monday, March 10, 2025.

    Nominations will be accepted at the Clerk’s Office, 20 Pelham Town Square, Fonthill, during regular business hours from March 10, 2025, until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, by appointment.

    An appointment must be scheduled with the Clerk or designate for this purpose.

    Candidates may also submit a personal statement of qualification for Council’s consideration. Personal statements must be typewritten in a 12-point font on letter-size paper (8½ x 11"), not exceed two (2) pages in length, and include the Candidate’s name and address. Statements that do not meet these requirements will not be included in any Council meeting agenda or provided to Council by the Clerk.

    Prior to submitting an application, interested individuals should refer to the Municipal Act, 2001 and the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 for further details relating to the required qualifications.

  • Pelham Summer Chill Series earns top 100 Festivals of Ontario award

    Pelham, ON – The Town of Pelham has, for the third year, received a Festivals and Events Ontario (FEO) Top 100 award recognizing the long-running Pelham Summer Chill Series, which combines live music from the Fonthill Bandshell committee, the Pelham farmers' market and the Thursday night supper market into a vibrant community event in Peace Park every Thursday each summer.

    The Meridian Community Centre will be open on Family Day from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

    On Monday, Feb. 17, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., residents can participate in free events at the Meridian Community Centre in Pelham. Activities include a new create a family tree art project, drop-in family gym time with bouncy castles, laser tag sponsored by MYAC, face painting and balloon creations. In addition, community sports organizations, service clubs and not-for-profit organizations will be on site for the annual community expo. The fun continues on the ice with the family skate sponsored by the Fonthill Rotary Club or take part in the paint-the-ice activity.  Additional action on the ice takes place when the Pelham Panthers Junior B hockey players take on the Hamilton Kilty B's at 1:00 p.m. with free admission provided by Tim Hortons.
