Town of Pelham launches 2023 Best Garden Selection

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

July 27, 2023

Pelham, ON – The Town of Pelham launches the 2023 Communities in Bloom and Scotts Miracle-Gro® Best Garden Selection to name up to 12 local gardens as one of the top gardens in Pelham.

The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company, in partnership with Communities in Bloom and select local municipalities, recognize the hard work and dedication required to create and maintain impressive gardens in the community. Through the program, residents and businesses who have contributed to the beautification of the community will be recognized and receive an official “Best Garden” sign and Miracle-Grow product.

“Residents and businesses in Pelham spend countless hours creating stunning gardens that enhance the beauty of the community,” said Lauren Phillips, Culture and Community Enhancement Programmer. “The 2023 Communities in Bloom and Scotts Miracle-Gro® Best Garden Selection will allow the Town to highlight these efforts and show appreciation to those that keep Pelham blossoming each year.”

Residents and businesses have the ability to submit up to ten photos highlighting their gardens that are visable from the roadway. Selection criteria for winning gardens will include curb appeal, landscape maintenance, design principles and design elements.

Communities in Bloom was established with the guidance of Britain in Bloom, Tidy Towns of Ireland and Villes et Villages Fleuris de France. It held its first edition in 1995, and 29 participating municipalities were honoured at the first awards ceremonies on Parliament Hill. The program now includes hundreds of communities across the country, and an international challenge involving communities from the United States, Asia and several European countries allows participants to compete internationally.
