Town of Pelham receives $15,000 grant from Farm Credit Canada to support Centennial Park Concession

Press release

Pelham, ON – The Town of Pelham has received $15,000 in funding from Farm Credit Canada to support Centennial Park Concession Stand operations. Funds will be used to purchase a commercial-grade beverage cooler, refrigerator and freezer.

These equipment upgrades will provide volunteers access to new, energy-efficient replacements for kitchen equipment to support various community events, like fish fries hosted by the Fabulous Fenwick Lions Club.

“These appliances will greatly enhance our ability to serve the community during our fundraising events, allowing us to continue supporting worthy causes in Pelham,” said Lion Chief of the Fabulous Fenwick Lions Club Bill King. “The support directly impacts our capacity to make a positive difference in the lives of those in need.”

The Town of Pelham is one of just 86 community groups across Canada to receive support from the FCC AgriSpirit Fund in 2023.

“Centennial Park is a hub for community events, from outdoor recreational opportunities and organized sports to festivals and family gatherings,” said Town of Pelham Direction of Recreation, Culture and Wellness Vickie vanRavenswaay. “These new appliances will ensure that the many events in the park are supported by a concession stand that can meet the community's demands.”

Over the past twenty years, the FCC AgriSpirit Fund has supported 1,615 projects, investing a total of $21 million. This fund supports capital projects that enrich lives in rural communities with fewer than 150,000 people.

“It’s amazing to realize the range of projects and organizations the FCC AgriSpirit Fund has been able to support over the last 20 years and the impact it has created,” said Sophie Perreault, FCC executive vice-president and chief operating officer. “We continue that legacy through great investments in our communities today.”
