Vote by mail: on-demand special ballot for the 2020 by-election

Ensuring the safety of voters and election staff and the ability for those affected by COVID-19 to cast a ballot , the Town of Pelham is offering a vote by mail option for the September 15, 2020, by-election. 

On-demand ballots are available to those voters who are in isolation or self-quarantine, cannot leave their residence to vote because they have been in close contact with a positive COVID-19 case, are awaiting test results, or live with someone who has tested positive.

If you’re unsure whether you’re on the Voter’s List and eligible to vote in this fall’s Ward One by-election, the Town has a few simple ways for you to find out.

First, visit www.pelham.ca/by-election-2020 and click the Voter’s List tab and enter your first and last name, date of birth, and address, and the database will confirm your registration on the list.  Town of Pelham facilities reopen July 6, 2020

 On July 23, 2020, as part of their efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19, Niagara Regional Council approved a by-law making it mandatory to wear a face covering or non-medical mask in enclosed public places.

The by-law came into effect at 12:01 a.m. on July 31, 2020, and will remain in effect until Oct. 1, 2020, unless extended by Regional Council.

Flags at half mast for community member Bill Sheldon

Flags at Town Hall are flying at half mast this morning for community member Bill Sheldon.

Bill was the Vice Chair of the Committee of Adjustment, and was also Vice Chair of the Summerfest Committee.  

Bill was heavily invested in the replacement of the arches initiative and served on the Architectural Design Advisory Committee for the Meridian Community Centre.

Update on finances related to COVID-19

Estimates to year-end, December 31, 2020, were used in determining the financial impact of COVID-19 on the Town of Pelham.

The Town's current estimate of the tax levy supported 2020 total gross cost of COVID-19 pandemic is $1,251,659 and the current estimate of the 2020 net tax levy supported deficit as a result of COVID-19 pandemic is $669,336.
