Town playgrounds, skate park, closed until further notice

As the Town, residents, and businesses continue to work together to curb the spread of COVID-19, the Town of Pelham has closed its playground equipment, tennis courts, and the skate park at Marlene Stewart Streit Park to the public. Signage has been posted in the parks indicating the closure; equipment is not cleaned or sanitized and residents are asked not to use the equipment or gather in crowds.

Town of Pelham Council passes Odourous Industries Nuisance bylaw

March 27, 2020

Pelham, ON – Town of Pelham Council passed the Odorous Industries Nuisance bylaw this week, the final draft of which was presented to Council by the Chair of the Cannabis Control Committee on Monday, March 23, 2020.

Complaints from residents established the need for the Town to review all options available to regulate and prohibit adverse effects and public nuisances caused by odourous industrial facilities. The bylaw seeks to address those concerns.

Niagara confirms first case of COVID-19 with no travel history

From Niagara Regional Public Health Niagara Region Public Health and Emergency Services is investigating a confirmed case of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) in a male in his 30s with no international travel history. As the person is a staff member at Saint Francis Catholic Secondary School, Public Health is working closely with the school as well as the Niagara Catholic District School Board to monitor the situation.   The person worked while infectious and is currently at home in self-isolation....

As part of a communications strategy employed by the Region of Niagara and local municipalities, residents of Pelham may receive a recorded phone message from Mayor Marvin Junkin encouraging them to stay home to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community. 

Some residents may be weary of recorded messages during the COVID-19 pandemic, as various scams have been reported, however, the Town of Pelham would like to assure residents that this recording from Mayor Junkin is an authorized message.
