NHL alumni game highlights Pelham’s Meridian Community Centre Grand Opening

Pelham, ON– Pelham’s Meridian Community Centre’s public grand opening on Saturday, September 15, will feature some notable names from NHL seasons gone by, as the NHL Alumni team lines up against local Pelham Minor Hockey Association Coaches in the feature event of the facility’s grand opening.

Two members of the Gretzky family will be participating, Walter as honorary coach and Brent on the ice.

High heat alert to go into effect Sept. 3

​An Excessive Heat Alert will go into effect Monday, Sept. 3, as the temperature is expected to exceed 31 °C with humidex values over 40 ​°C. Overnight low temperatures will only fall to the mid twenties, providing little or no relief from the heat.​

Niagara residents are advised to take extra precautions during episodes of extreme heat and humidity.

Lookout Street Temporary Roundabout Pilot Project

Over time, we have received several calls, complaints and emails pertaining to the speed on Lookout Street prompting a speed survey.  

The results of that survey showed that:

AADT (Annual Average Daily Traffic)= 1223 vehicles

85th Percentile = 85km/h

Average speed = 65km/h

Another statistic that stands out is that 38% of all vehicles were travelling over 89km/h

To calm traffic, we are piloting 2 mini-roundabouts, set up at both Brewerton and Marlene Stewart Boulevard. The pilot will be temporary...

Pelham, ON– On Monday, August 27, at 1 p.m. Mayor Dave Augustyn and Member of Parliament for Niagara Centre, Vance Badawey will celebrate upgrades made to the Pelham public pool at Marlene Stewart Streit Park.
