Pelham mosquitoes test positive for West Nile Virus

Niagara Region Public Health has received its first report of West Nile Virus (WNV) in mosquitoes in 2018. To date, Niagara has no human cases of WNV.
While the mosquitoes that tested positive were found in Pelham, all Niagara residents should take the necessary precautions to prevent WNV. To reduce the risk of being bitten by mosquitoes and potentially exposed to WNV, residents are reminded to:

Burn ban lifted

Due to the recent weather conditions, the Pelham Fire Chief has lifted the open-air burn ban in the Town of Pelham. It is now acceptable to have an open-air burn provided you have an issued permit from the Pelham Fire Department for any outdoor burns. However, permits are not required for barbecues when cooking. Please contact the Pelham Fire Department at 905-892-2607 x 201 or visit our Facebook book page @PelhamFire if you have any questions.

REMINDER: Municipal and school board election nominations close at 2 p.m. July 27

Potential candidates for this year's municipal and school board election have been open for the past 12 weeks, but the window to file nomination papers is quickly coming to a close.
Those still wishing to put their name forward for mayor, councillor, regional councillor, regional chair or school board trustee have until Friday, July 27, 2018, to file their papers.
It is important to note that the deadline to file is July 27 between 9 a.m. - and 2 p.m.

Pelham’s Meridian Community Centre now open

Pelham, ON– The wait is over. The Meridian Community Centre in Pelham has officially opened its doors.
As of 7 a.m. on Friday, July 20, community members, user groups, and neighbours had access to the 143,000 square foot facility, with the first two users walking through the door at 7:04 a.m., heading straight for the walking/running track.
