FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 9, 2017
Pelham, ON – Slow. Social. Fun. Welcome to the Pelham Slow Roll.
The Pelham Active Transportation Committee (PATC) welcomes riders of all ages and skill levels to take part in the Slow Roll’s inaugural ride on June 13, 2017, at 6:00 p.m.
Taking place once a month from June to September, the Slow Roll is designed to celebrate Pelham’s neighbourhoods and villages by bringing the community together for casual bike rides that explore the Town’s history and beauty; the Town’s smooth lanes, low-trafficked streets, and winding roads make it a rider’s haven.
Each Roll will have a leader and experienced volunteers to assist in the ride, and will be a loop ride of 8-12 km lasting approximately 1.5 hours and ending at the starting location. Stops along the route may occur for points of interest and short rest breaks as required.
“Dust off your bikes, invite your friends and family and join us for Pelham's Slow Roll rides this summer,” said Bea Clark, PATC chair. “It is a safe, wonderful way to be active this summer. Slow Roll rides are popular in communities across Canada and the US because participants enjoy cycling and socializing while learning more about their communities.”
The Town of Pelham is a designated bicycle friendly community, and has been awarded – again in 2017 – the Silver rating by the Share the Road Cycling Coalition.
