Town of Pelham Ward Boundary Review
Council received a presentation from Dr. Andrew Sancton and Dr. Timothy Cobban regarding the study of the Council Composition, Ward Boundary Review and Deputy Mayor Selection for Pelham. The presentation provided the preliminary report of proposed options for consideration. In addition to the presentation, the consultants will have public consultation sessions for the community. During the sessions, alternative ward boundary maps and governance models will be available for public review and input, with the consultants on-site to provide information and answer questions. Pelham LED Streetlight Conversion
Council received report #2024-0037 regarding the LED streetlight replacement in Pelham. Phase 2 of the LED Streetlight Replacement contract includes the replacement of 574 Cobra head lights and 426 Decorative fixtures. During the installation, it was determined that 31 decorative fixtures located in Ridgeville (Canboro Road and Effingham Street), Timmsdale Crescent, and Brondi's Lane areas could not be installed on the existing poles as initially planned. Council directed staff to fund the costs for the arms conversion for the decorative fixtures from the Road Reserve to allow for the completion of the conversion project on the 31 fixtures.
Cemeteries By-law
Council received Report #2024-0039 – Revisions to Proposed Replacement of Cemeteries By-law and directed staff to have the proposed By-law, as considered and approved by Council, supported by the Registrar appointed under the Funeral, Burial and Cremation Services Act, 2002, S.O. 2002, c. 33. Council provided direction to finalize the Cemeteries By-law to allow leashed dogs on cemetery roads and pathways and to implement related policy changes for by-law enforcement.
Municipal Community Grants
Council received Report #2024-0042 – Proposed 2024 Municipal Community Grants and approved the cash and in-kind allocations for 2024 to community not-for-profit organizations, service clubs and events that will directly benefit the residents of Pelham. Before the 2025 Budget process, the Municipal Grant Policy S400-04 will be reviewed and presented, outlining proposed service levels and funding for the Council's consideration. A further report will be provided this year at the Council's request, detailing the in-kind services provided by the Town from community requests.
