FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
November 20, 2023
Pelham, ON – The Town of Pelham and CUPE Local 1287 have ratified their Collective Agreement for a second term.
The newly ratified Agreement is the result of negotiations between September and October of this year, as the current Agreement is set to expire at the end of 2023. Both parties were respectful, fair, flexible and realistic in their negotiation approach, which facilitated the process.
Within the Town of Pelham, CUPE Local 1287 represents all non-management staff in the Public Works Department including 18 full-time permanent, one part-time permanent and five seasonal staff. The job duties performed by CUPE members of the Public Works Department include town beautification, cemetery maintenance, road repair, winter plowing, water operations, parks maintenance, facility repair, construction administration and development engineering and plans review.
"This agreement works for all parties involved: the staff, the town and the tax payer," said Pelham's CAO, David Cribbs. "We look forward to another four productive years serving this fine community."
"1287 members are proud to serve the Pelham Public Works department under this new Collective Agreement for the next four years, providing quality service for our community and superior value for our taxpayers" said Maurice Gauthier on behalf of CUPE Local 1287.
Financial terms included in the Agreement include a 3.25% salary increase for 2024, 3.0% for 2025, 3.0% for 2026 and 3.25% for 2027.
The Agreement will begin on January 1, 2024, and expires on December 31, 2027.
