Pelham, ON – The Town of Pelham Clerk, as of Tuesday, October 25, 2022, has certified the results of the 2022 municipal election. Thank you to everyone who ran this year and all of those in the community who voted.
The Town of Pelham's next Council is:
Mayor: Marvin Junkin
Ward 1 Councillors: Acclaimed Kevin Ker and Wayne Olson
Ward 2 Councillors: John Wink and Brian Eckhardt
Ward 3 Councillors: Acclaimed Robert (Bob) Hildebrandt and Shellee Niznik
The Municipal Election saw 5,179 votes across Pelham, equating to a 32.62% voter turnout. In ward 2, with 5,612 electors, 2,043 votes were cast. Ward 3, with 5,528 electors, had the second most votes cast with 1,769 and ward 1, with 4,738 electors, had 1,367 votes cast.
The newly elected Council will receive an orientation and training, which will include training on parliamentary procedure, up-to-date summaries of ongoing projects, negotiations and agreements and information on the responsibilities, support and services each department provides for Pelham residents. Orientation will take place after Council is sworn in, taking their oath of office, on November 21, 2022, with Council's first meeting on December 5, 2022.
The Town website will be updated with new Councillor information once Council takes office. Council, in the coming months, will collaboratively develop a new strategic plan to include information on the goals, objectives, and priorities for the new Council.
A Regional Council representative was also elected on October 24, 2022.
The Regional Councillor representative for Pelham is Diana Huson.
