Pelham, ON – The Town of Pelham will install two new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at the Meridian Community Centre with $100,000 in support from Pollution Probe’s CHARGED program.
Once completed, the FLO EV chargers will be available year-round for residents and visitors and will be visible on the FLO network and mobile app. The chargers will be in a dedicated parking area located on the south side of the building and will accommodate charging up to four vehicles at a time. The level three charging stations will have payment software built into the station.
"This funding will allow the Town to install fast charging stations at the Meridian Community Centre that will expand the availability of publically accessible EV chargers in Pelham," explained Town of Pelham CAO David Cribbs. "Town of Pelham council established environmental and climate adaptation as a priority within the current strategic plan, and once installed, the EV chargers will align with the goal of focusing on action items that continue to put Pelham in a position to be a strong steward of the environment."
CHARGED, powered by Pollution Probe, is accelerating the transition to zero-emission transportation in Canada by providing financial support from Natural Resources Canada's Zero-Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP) to locations across Canada to support the installation of EV charging infrastructure.
"Electric vehicles are revolutionizing the transportation landscape, delivering substantial benefits to both the environment and the Canadian economy," says Christopher Hilkene, Chief Executive Officer at Pollution Probe. "With their profound ability to diminish air pollution, fight against climate change, and usher in remarkable cost savings, EVs propel us towards a sustainable future."
Pollution Probe is a national, not-for-profit, charitable organization established in 1969 that pursues environmental gains by productively working with governments, industry and the public.
